JETS competition
JETS competition
Instigated by the Devonport club three years ago, this competition represents the entry point for junior squash players once they have learnt the rudiments of the game being essentially the serve and serve return.

All prominent North Shore clubs submit teams to this competition known in our region as "Northern JETS". The competition is split between girls and boys leagues and there is also a "Graduates league" for players who have recently been elevated to senior grades.

Matches are played on Sunday mornings and travel minimised although travel to away venues is inevitable so that all teams have the benefit of home fixtures. Through providing a number of teams Devonport does have regular home advantage.

Players are seeded within 3 strong teams to create even competition and matches are played under traditional rules being the best of 5 sets. Matches are reported to Squash NZ and players move up & down the grading list according to their results.

Players need to be club members and on the grading list to qualify for JETS but don't worry - our coaches are always on the look-out for emerging talent!
